We’re a proud partner of Pink Shirt Day

Coast Capital has been the presenting sponsor of Pink Shirt Day in BC since 2012. In 2018, with the support of our members and employees, we invested over $490,000 to support bullying prevention efforts in BC. By supporting Pink Shirt Day, we’re helping fund bullying prevention programs that encourage youth to have positive interactions with their peers, and that teach kindness and respect all year long.

Bullying affects people of all gender, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.

The numbers are staggering:
40% of Canadian youth said they have been bullied online.
Bullying in Canadian schools happens every 25 minutes in the classroom and every 7 minutes elsewhere on school grounds.
Studies show that bullying can end within 10 seconds of intervention.

How donations help

All proceeds from Pink Shirt Day go to the CKNW Kids’ Fund which provides grants to help local non-profit organizations working year round on bullying prevention initiatives including: Canadian Red Cross of Canada, Kids Help Phone, KidSafe Project, Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Centre of BC, Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Canada, and the Stigma-Free Society.
