Special General Meeting
Coast Capital members are invited to attend a Special General Meeting (SGM) where we will announce the results of the Coast Capital merger vote and next steps.
Join In Person
We will be holding the SGM on July 7, 2025 in-person at the Civic Ballroom in the Civic Hotel located at 13475 Central Avenue in Surrey, BC. Doors and registration will open at 3:30 pm PT with the SGM beginning promptly at 4:00 pm PT/7:00 pm ET.
At the SGM, registered members who have not already voted will have the opportunity to vote on the Special Resolution to approve the Amalgamation Agreement among Coast Capital, Prospera and Sunshine Coast credit unions and related matters. They will also have the opportunity to submit questions during the SGM.

Voting Information
Coast Capital members will vote on a Special Resolution to approve the Amalgamation Agreement between Coast Capital, Prospera and Sunshine Coast credit unions and related matters. Your elected Board of Directors unanimously recommend you vote YES on the Special Resolution.
The Special Resolution is printed on the ballot included with your vote package.
The Amalgamation Agreement includes the initial Board of Directors and the Bylaws of the combined federal credit union. You’ll find an extended digital guide, summaries of the Amalgamation Agreement and Bylaws and the full documents, as well as director biographies at powerthefuture.ca.
How to Vote
Mail and Online voting is available until 5pm PT / 8pm ET June 26, 2025.
There are three ways to participate and register your vote:
- Vote Online:
Take the 13-digit voting control number on your mailed ballot, go to www.coastcapitalsavings.com/vote and follow further instructions to submit your vote online. You can also use your smartphone or tablet to submit your vote by scanning the QR code on your ballot. We encourage you to vote online if you’re able to do so. Online voting is not available for business members. - Vote by Mail:
Use your mailed ballot and make your voting selections. Ballots must be signed. Insert your ballot into the supplied business reply envelope. Seal your envelope and drop it off at any Canada Post mailbox. Ballots must be received by the Returning Officer by 5pm PT / 8pm ET June 26, 2025. - Vote in person at the Special General Meeting:
Voting on the Special Resolution will be available to those attending the Special General Meeting in person on July 7, 2025.
Members can only vote once. If both a digital vote and a paper vote are submitted during the advance voting period, the digital vote will be the one recorded and the duplicate paper vote will not be counted. If you vote during the advance voting period and again at the SGM, either digitally or paper vote, the vote submitted at the SGM will be recorded and the advance vote discarded.
Voting packages containing ballots and the Member Guide with information about the Special Resolution to approve the Amalgamation Agreement among Coast Capital, Prospera Credit Union and Sunshine Coast Credit Union were mailed Coast Capital members eligible to vote. If you have multiple joint memberships, your voting package will be mailed to an address provided on one of your joint memberships, which may not necessarily be your home address.
Voter Eligibility
Eligible members can vote online, by mail, or at the Special General Meeting. You are eligible to vote if you met the following criteria on May 8, 2025:
- You were 18 years or older.
- You held the required minimum of five membership shares.
- You were a member in good standing, i.e., not more than 90 days delinquent in any obligations to Coast Capital.
- Regardless of the number of memberships you hold, you may cast only one ballot. If there are multiple members on a membership, each member must meet the required minimum of five membership shares requirement to be eligible to vote.
Corporations and partnerships may also vote in the election. Any person authorized by the corporation or partnership may complete the ballot (business members are not able to vote online at this time and must vote using their paper ballot). Business member ballots must have all requested information completed to be considered valid.
Frequently Asked Questions
Eligible voters can cast their vote easily and securely on our online voting platform. Note: online voting is available only for personal members and sole proprietors. Business members must use their paper ballot to vote.
To cast your vote, use your unique 13-digit control number found on your mailed ballot, and follow the instructions on the voting platform. You can also use your smartphone or tablet to submit your vote by hovering over the QR code on your ballot. We encourage you to vote online if you’re able to do so.
Your unique 13-digit control number can be found on your mailed ballot. If you have lost or misplaced your ballot, you can go to your local branch or call Coast Capital’s Advice Centre at 1-888-517-7000, Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm PT/11am-11pm ET; Sun, 9am-5:30pm PT/12pm-8:30pm ET and one of our staff members can provide you with your control number.
If you did not receive a ballot, or if you have lost or misplaced your ballot, please call Coast Capital’s Advice Centre at 1-888-517-7000, Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm PT/11am-11pm ET; Sun, 9am-5:30pm PT/12pm-8:30pm ET, and one will be mailed to you. Requests for replacement ballots must be made by no later than Monday, June 16, 2025.
Coast Capital has hired TSX Trust Company, a professional and independent vendor, to act as Coast Capital’s Returning Officer and Scrutineer to oversee the election and ballot counting process. All ballots are returned to TSX Trust Company and validated using the unique barcodes pre-assigned to voters. The paper ballots are scanned after the digital votes have been cross-referenced to eliminate any duplicate votes. After all ballots are scanned and digital votes tallied, the results are tabulated and provided to the Returning Officer.
Yes, both personal and business ballots need to be signed. If you are voting on behalf of a corporation, by filling in the ballot, you certify that you are authorized to vote on behalf of that corporation.
Voting in advance is available via the online voting platform until 5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Completed mailed ballots must be received by our Returning Officer by Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET.
The results of the Coast Capital vote will be shared during the Special General Meeting being held at 4:00pm PT/7:00pm ET on Monday, July 7, 2025 and are expected to be posted on coastcapitalsavings.com and powerthefuture.ca by July 8, 2025.
