Coast Capital’s Broadmead Branch Reopens Feb 29

Out of an abundance of caution, Coast Capital Savings closed its Broadmead Village location in Victoria, this week.

On Tuesday evening of this week, we were informed that an individual in an adjacent location at our Broadmead site, may have been exposed to the coronavirus in mid-February. The individual is not a Coast Capital employee.

We were informed that Island Health had directed the individual to stay at home until today. We were informed that the individual at no point exhibited signs of infection and this morning we received confirmation that the individual has been cleared by health officials.

When we originally learned of this situation, we contacted Island Health’s Public Health-Communicable Disease officials who told us that there was no need to close our branch from a public health perspective nor did they believe there was a risk to the public. However, we chose to close the branch out of an abundance of caution.

The safety of our employees and members is our top priority and a key factor in our decision-making. Throughout this process, we have tried to balance taking appropriate action without creating undo anxiety or panic.

As this is a public health matter that does not directly involve Coast Capital, we ask that you direct any further questions to the BC Centre for Disease Control.
