Coast Capital Savings nationally recognized for outstanding corporate culture

Coast Capital employees celebrate the credit union’s inclusion as one of the 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures in Canada.

Surrey, B.C.: Coast Capital’s corporate culture has again been named one of the 10 most admired in Canada according to Waterstone Human Capital, a leading executive search firm that conducts an annual evaluation of workplace cultures in organizations across the country. The credit union, that also was a winner in 2011, has been recognized in the firm’s mid-market category and is the only Canadian financial institution to make this year’s list.

Every year, Waterstone Human Capital selects organizations from across Canada for recognition under its Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures™ program, which was launched nine years ago.

“Coast Capital’s employee promise is to change the way our 1,600 employees feel about work, forever, and this recognition shows we’re delivering on this commitment,” said Don Coulter, Interim President and CEO for the B.C.-based credit union. “We are delighted that Coast Capital Savings has been named to the list of top 10 corporate cultures in Canada. We know that a strong corporate culture translates into a better service experience for our members, because happy employees provide an exceptional member experience.”

Marty Parker, chairman and CEO of Waterstone Human Capital, said there was stiff competition from across Canada to make this year’s list.

“We are thrilled to honour Coast Capital Savings with this award again in 2014, since their previous win in 2011,” said Marty Parker, CEO of Waterstone and Chair of the Canada’s 10 program. “The culture at Coast Capital is truly about changing the way Canadians feel about banking forever. There is incredible pride in the company, which sets them apart from traditional financial services organizations. Congratulations again to Coast Capital.”

Coulter said organizational culture plays a critical role in an organization’s ability to recruit and retain the best and brightest talent.

“We strive to be one of the leading choices for Canadian job seekers, whether they are senior-level executives or just starting off in their careers,” said Coulter. “We know one of the factors candidates look for in deciding between opportunities is corporate culture and that certainly was the case when I came to Coast Capital nearly six years ago. We offer a culture that allows our employees to contribute to our success, to grow with us, and have a voice in the direction and future of our organization. This award provides affirmation that, as a team, we have something pretty special here at Coast Capital and we are very proud of that.”
