Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union donates $150,000 to Foundry to support youth employment across British Columbia

Innovative member offer drives financial health and resilience for both members and communities

VANCOUVER, B.C. (August 12, 2026) — Sunshine Coast Financial, Coast Capital and Prospera, part of Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union’s family of brands and Canada's largest national purpose-driven credit union, has announced a $150,000 donation to Foundry. The contribution marks the credit union's first major community investment since the organization came together in May 2026.

Drawing on the newly combined credit union's strength and scale, the donation was made possible through strong member participation in a limited-time Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) offer that featured a competitive rate, along with a $100 donation to Foundry for every GIC account opened.

"This campaign is a powerful example of the impact created when we bring our collective strengths together," said Gavin Toy, president and CEO of Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union. "Our members embraced an opportunity to invest in their own financial futures while helping create brighter futures for young people across British Columbia. It's also tangible proof that greater scale in the credit union system enables us to deliver stronger member value and deeper community impact."

The offer, intended to thank members of Prospera, Coast Capital and Sunshine Coast Financial for their support during the recent merger and continued trust, generated $150,000 in support of Foundry's Work & Education Program. The free, province-wide service helps youth ages 15 to 24 build the skills, confidence and experience needed to succeed in school and the workforce. The investment will support Foundry Work & Education Program delivery across communities served by the three brands, with one-third of the funding dedicated to Foundry Sunshine Coast.

The investment comes at a critical time. Youth unemployment in British Columbia remains approximately twice the provincial average, creating significant barriers for young people seeking to gain workforce experience and establish long-term financial stability.

"On behalf of Foundry, I want to thank Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union for investing in young people across BC," said Dr. Steve Mathias, co-executive director of Foundry. "This support for Foundry’s Work & Education Program will help more young people overcome barriers and access personalized support as they pursue employment, education and training opportunities. Together, we’re helping youth build confidence, develop skills and take meaningful steps toward their goals and brighter futures."

About Foundry

Foundry offers free and confidential support for mental health, substance use health, physical and sexual healthcare, youth and family peer support and work & education support for BC youth aged 12-24 and their families/caregivers – no referrals or assessments required – both in-person at a local centre or virtually anywhere in BC.

As part of its provincial strategy to improve mental health and addictions care for young people, the Government of British Columbia provides one-time start-up funding to establish Foundry centres, and ongoing core funding for service delivery and operations. Foundry lead agencies may fundraise locally to cover any additional one-time costs depending on local needs and building requirements. Once centres are open, Foundry lead agencies may fundraise for programming that complements core services.
