Coast Online Banking for Small Business Agreement

  • Customer’s use of Coast Online Banking for Small Business is governed by the customer’s Business Account and Services Agreement or Personal Account and Services Agreement, as applicable (each, an “Account and Services Agreement”), a copy of which is available on the Legal page or at any Coast Capital Savings branch, as amended by the Coast Online Banking for Small Business Service Terms, a copy of which is available as a PDF or at any Coast Capital Savings branch.  This page is only a high-level summary of certain key terms of the amended Account and Services Agreements.  In the event of any inconsistency between a provision of this document and a provision of an Account and Services Agreement (as amended by the Coast Online Banking for Small Business Service Terms), the provision of the Account and Services Agreement (as amended by the Coast Online Banking for Small Business Service Terms) shall prevail.
  • An individual who is a signing officer for a business account may request an upgrade to Coast Online Banking for Small Business.  Implementation of an upgrade is subject to the approval of Coast Capital Savings.
    • If a business customer has more than one signing officer, then an upgrade by one signing officer does not upgrade the other signing officers.  Each signing officer must separately request his or her own upgrade.  A business customer is permitted to have one or more signing officers who have upgraded to Coast Online Banking for Small Business and one or more signing officers who have not upgraded, but those signing officers who have not upgraded will not be able to access the functionality available through Coast Online Banking for Small Business.
  • An individual who is a signing officer for a business account and who upgrades is permitted to link additional Coast Capital Savings personal accounts or business accounts for which the individual is also a signing officer, so that the individual can view the business account and the linked accounts from the same user login screen.
    • If the linked account is a business account, then the act of linking is equivalent to requesting an upgrade to Coast Online Banking for Small Business for that other Business Account.
    • If the linked account is a personal account, then the individual will be able to exercise the more limited functionality described below.
  • Coast Online Banking for Small Business is not generally available for personal accounts.
    • Coast Online Banking for Small Business can only be used in connection with a personal account if:
      1. an individual who is a signing officer of a business account has upgraded to Coast Online Banking for Small Business;
      2. the individual can sign for the personal account; and
      3. the individual has linked to the personal account, as described above.
    • The functionality available for personal accounts is not as extensive as the functionality available for business accounts.  An individual who is a signing officer of a personal account and who has linked to the personal account will be able to: (a) view the personal account using Coast Online Banking for Small Business; (b) authorize transactions in relation to the personal account using Coast Online Banking for Small Business (subject to certain rules relating to multiple signing officers, discussed below); and (c) appoint delegates for the personal account.  The individual will not be able to exercise other functionality that would be available for a business account.
  • Coast Online Banking for Small Business supports accounts which require signatures from either one or two signing officers.
    • For accounts which require signatures from three (or more) signing officers, signing officers may use certain features of Coast Online Banking for Small Business, but cannot authorize transactions through Coast Online Banking for Small Business.
    • If a customer has more than one signing officer and transactions of the customer may be authorized by any one of those signing officers, then each of the signing officers who has upgraded to Coast Online Banking for Small Business (and, if the account is a personal account, who has linked to the personal account) can access the functionality available through Coast Online Banking for Small Business.  As discussed above, the available functionality is more limited for personal accounts.
    • If a customer has two or more signing officers and transactions of the customer must be authorized by any two of those signing officers, then:
      1. If only one of the signing officers has upgraded to Coast Online Banking for Small Business (and, if the account is a personal account, has linked to the personal account), then that signing officer can view the account and appoint delegates, but that signing officer will not be able to authorize transactions on the account through Coast Online Banking for Small Business. (For clarity, if the signing officer links to a linked account and if transactions on the linked account can be authorized by a single signing officer, then the signing officer would be able to authorize transactions on the linked account.)
      2. If two or more of the signing officers have upgraded to Coast Online Banking for Small Business (and, if the account is a personal account, have linked to the personal account), then each of those signing officers can view the account and appoint delegates, and any two of those signing officers will be able to authorize transactions through Coast Online Banking for Small Business.
  • The current service charges for Coast Online Banking for Small Business are available on the Service Fees page.  Service charges may change from time to time.
  • Online banking is convenient, but you should always be careful.
    • The customer is wholly responsible for all transactions that are authorized using a PAC (personal access code), including fraudulent transactions.  A transaction that has been authorized by a PAC cannot be revoked or countermanded.  It is the responsibility of each signing officer to keep his or her PAC absolutely confidential.
    • It is the responsibility of each delegate to keep his or her password confidential.
    • The customer and each signing officer and delegate must ensure that any computer, phone or other device used to access Coast Online Banking for Small Business has a current anti-virus program and firewall.
    • Coast Capital Savings is not responsible for the acts or omissions of signing officers or delegates or for determining the adequacy of their authority, or for unauthorized or fraudulent use of the services by any person.
  • Third party services may be offered through Coast Online Banking for Small Business.
    • The third party services may be subject to additional fees, and may be subject to additional terms and conditions.
    • Each such service is provided by the third party, and not by Coast Capital Savings.  Coast Capital Savings makes no representation or warranty with respect to, and has no responsibility or liability for, any services provided by a third party, even though the services may be accessed through Coast Online Banking for Small Business.
  • All transactions are subject to verification and acceptance by Coast Capital Savings.  If a transaction is not accepted, or is accepted but subsequently determined to be in error or otherwise improper or unauthorized, then Coast Capital Savings may, but is not obliged to, reverse the transaction from the account.
  • The customer assumes all risk of loss due to the use of Coast Online Banking for Small Business, including, without limitation, the risk of third party fraud and internal fraud of the customer.  Without limitation, Coast Capital Savings is not responsible for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience experienced by a customer as a result of the following:
    • Any unavailability of, or any interruption in the provision of, Coast Online Banking for Small Business, regardless of the cause of such unavailability or interruption.
    • Coast Capital Savings’ delay or failure to process any transaction, regardless of the cause of such delay or failure.
