$500 Offer Campaign FAQs

My application is still not yet confirmed. When will I know?

Our team is working through a large volume of applications from the promotional period.  Please allow more time for our team to continue to work through the applications.  Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email notification with next steps.

When will I see the $500 deposited to my new account?

The offer will be deposited to your membership within 30 days of meeting the eligibility criteria.

What is the eligibility criteria that I need to meet in order to get the $500 bonus?

You need to open a membership (or “submit an application” since many accounts were created after the offer expired) with us between September 9 – October 6, 2019 and switch your eligible direct deposit or set up an eligible recurring preauthorized payment of at least $50. The first qualifying direct deposit or the first and second withdrawal taken from the account for the pre-authorized payments must occur within 90 days of the membership opening. The two pre-authorized payments must be from the same vendor. New Members must be ages 18 or older and be residents of Canada (excludes Quebec) in order to be eligible for the Offer. New members must not have been members with Coast Capital Savings since January 2014. The full terms and conditions of the offer can be viewed at the bottom of this page.

Are joint accounts eligible for the offer?

Joint memberships are eligible for a single deposit – the $500 would be credited once to the membership.

Do I need two preauthorized payments from two different vendors, or is it two preauthorized payment transactions from the same vendor?

To meet the eligibility criteria, there will need to be two preauthorized payment transactions from the same vendor. The pre-authorized debits must be at least $50 each and they must occur within the first 90 days of your membership opening.

My pre-authorized debit was returned as non-sufficient funds (NSF), does the attempt still qualify for the offer?

In order to meet the eligibility requirements, you must have two successful pre-authorized debits from the same vendor. Pre-authorized debits that are returned as Non-sufficient Funds (NSF) are not considered successful pre-authorized payments and do not help you qualify for the offer.

How do I know if my direct deposit is eligible for the offer?

Deposits categorized under the Canadian Payment Association code as payroll qualify for the offer. In addition, pension, Employment Insurance, Old Age Security, Canadian Pension Plan, Workers Compensation, Parental Assistance, Income Security Benefit and Disability deposits qualify for the offer.

Why are PayTM pre-authorized debits exempt?

PayTM is a service that allows you to transfer money into a digital wallet through debit and credit cards. This is a third party transfer service and pre-authorized debits to this company are not bill payments, loan, mortgage or credit card payments. Therefore, as per the terms and conditions, this does not qualify as an eligible pre-authorized debit.

My pre-authorized debit or direct deposit is in someone else’s name – will this qualify me for the promotion?

The pre-authorized debit or direct deposit must be in the name of a signer on the membership, as noted in the Personal Account and Services Agreement.  You may only use your accounts for your personal banking needs. If your pre-authorized debit or direct deposit is in the name of a person who is not listed as a signer on your membership, these transactions will not help you meet the eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions of $500 Offer

1. The Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union (the "Credit Union") New Member Bonus Offer (the "Offer") of $500 is available between September 9, 2019 and October 6, 2019 to New Members who
  • (i) open a membership with the Credit Union and a Chequing Account (the "Account") and switch their eligible payroll direct deposit or other recurring direct deposit, or
  • (ii) set up an eligible recurring preauthorized payment of at least $50. The first qualifying payroll direct deposit or other recurring direct deposit must be received within 90 days of successfully opening a membership and an Account. The first and second withdrawal taken from the Account for the pre-authorized payment must be successfully withdrawn within 90 days of successfully opening an Account. For Joint Memberships and Joint Accounts, only the Primary Member is eligible to receive the Offer. Staff of the Credit Union are not eligible for the Offer. New Members must be ages 18 or older and must be residents of Canada (excludes Quebec) in order to be eligible for the Offer. New members must not have been members with Coast Capital Savings since January 2014. The $500 bonus will be paid within 30 days of eligibility criteria being met. Limit of one $500 bonus per person.
a. Payroll direct deposit or other recurring direct deposit conditions

Deposits categorized under the Canadian Payment Association code as payroll qualify for the Offer. In addition, pension, Employment Insurance, Old Age Security, Canadian Pension Plan, Workers Compensation, Parental Assistance and Income Security Benefit deposits qualify for the Offer.

b. Preauthorized bill payment conditions

This includes preauthorized bill payments or preauthorized loan, mortgage or credit card payments. It does not include transfers into other accounts or into accounts with other financial institutions.

Refer-a-Friend Program FAQs

Offer: Refer a friend and you both could earn $50. Plus, Coast Capital Savings will make a donation of $50 for every successful referral to The Youth Futures Education Fund.

Who can participate?

Coast Capital members who are 19+ years old with a valid chequing or savings account can refer anyone who is also 19 years old and older and reside in BC. Members cannot refer existing members for the New Membership offer.

Where do I get started?

Referrals can be made through the Coast Capital Savings website, mobile app or directly at https://refer.coastcapitalsavings.com/public/home.pg. Please note that referrals cannot be made in branch or through the contact center.

How many times can I refer? Is there a limit?

There's no limit regarding how many people you can refer. This is a great opportunity to share the love with your friends and family, and get rewarded for it.

How do I know if my referral was successful or not?

Once a referral is successfully completed, you should expect to receive the offer rewards directly into your Coast Capital Savings chequing account. You can also log in to your Refer A Friend account at https://refer.coastcapitalsavings.com/public/home.pg and check the status of your referrals under the Referral History section. In addition, an email is sent to you with the status of your referrals, so you can always know what's going on and when a referral is successfully completed.

Please note that due to not share details on your friend's process as we aim to preserve every person's privacy and integrity.

Why did my friend / family member not get approved?

A referral may not be approved due to different reasons. Please refer to the Offer Terms & Conditions to learn more about the offer eligibility criteria.

How long will it take for me to receive a $50 credit once a friend / family member has been approved?

You should receive the $50 credit within 30 business days after all the eligibility criteria are met. Please refer to the Offer Terms & Conditions to learn more about the offer eligibility criteria.

Do I retroactively get paid for someone who I referred in the past?

No, if you referred anyone prior to the launch of the Refer a Friend program, we cannot retroactively pay you the $50 credit.

What can I do if I don't think I've been paid correctly according to the referrals I think I have generated?

First, please ensure to read the Offer Terms & Conditions to learn more about the offer details including referral eligibility and payment periods. Will my information be shared with a third party? If yes, what kind of information is being shared?
