Pink Shirt Day

Encouraging kindness and preventing bullying.

As the presenting sponsor of CKNW Kids' Fund Pink Shirt Day, we’re committed to supporting bullying prevention programs that help youth build a sense of belonging and are affecting change every day in our communities. In 2017 alone, we invested more than $500,000 into bullying prevention programs above and beyond our investment in Pink Shirt Day.

How we help.

With Coast Capital Savings' community promise to help build a richer future for youth in our communities, supporting local programs like Pink Shirt Day is a natural fit for us.

Our support of Pink Shirt Day is part of our Youth Get It community investment program commitment to helping youth build healthy minds. We want to help youth in your community develop positive connections and build their sense of belonging to decrease stress and depression.

Bullying affects people of all gender, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds and the numbers are staggering:

  • 75% of youth report having been bullied and 42% of Canadian youth report having been cyberbullied
  • Bullying in Canadian schools happens every 25 minutes in the classroom and every 7 minutes elsewhere on school grounds
  • Studies show that bullying can end within 10 seconds of intervention

By supporting Pink Shirt Day we’re helping bullying prevention programs that encourage youth to have positive interactions with their peers, and that teach kindness and respect all year long.

All proceeds from Pink Shirt Day go to the CKNW Kids’ Fund which provides grants to help local non-profit organizations working year round on bullying prevention initiatives.
